ARCHIVIO DELLA CANTATA ITALIANA

A PROJECT FOR THE CLASSIFICATION OF THE SOURCES OF THE ITALIAN CANTATA

READ THE EDITORIAL

The project Clori. Archivio della cantata italiana intends to register all the existing musical sources of this musical genre (vocal chamber music on an Italian text), from its origins, starting from around 1620, to the latest evidence in the first decades of the nineteenth century. The online database therefore wants to be a descriptive consultation repertoire able to foster an increasingly in-depth and multidisciplinary knowledge of this musical genre. The project, mainly promoted by the Italian Society of Musicology, is now availing itself of the collaboration of the “Centro studi sulla cantata italiana" of the University of Rome "Tor Vergata”.
