We are glad to announce to the community of scholars and enthusiasts of Baroque cantat that on November 13, 2021 the final examination of the PhD dissertation by Dr. Elisa Barbessi, Anamorfosi del mito: i personaggi femminili omerici nella cantata italiana fino al 1750, took place at the Sorbonne University in Paris, France. The tutors of the dissertation are Prof. Raphaëlle Legrand (Sorbonne Université) and Teresa M. Gialdroni (Università di Roma “Tor Vergata”).

This was the final step of an intense research that went well beyond the mere musicological interest, dealing with issues such as the reception of Homer in the Seventeenth and Eighteenth century, resulting in an original and fascinating interdisciplinary approach. Once again, both the committee and the candidate acknowledged the importance of Clori. Archivio della cantata italiana as an indispensable research tool for every work related to this repertoire.
