The database has been updated! A new version of Clori is now online
The online database Clori. Archivio della cantata italiana has received a technical update that has radically expanded and improved the project’s search functionality. Among its main new features:
Search now takes into account the most common historical spelling variants;
Transcriptions of a work's text may be compared from different sources;
Musical incipits are displayed on a staff, encoded using the Plaine and Easie Code system;
Person entities (composers, librettists, dedicatees, etc.) have a Linked Open Data (LOD) alignment with Wikidata/DBpedia;
From a composer's work file, you can view all sources that document that composer's work (Sources), as well as all sources that document the same text set to music by other composers (Other musical settings).
From the home page, the search box remains available to begin navigation, as well as links to the Advanced Search and the Search Guide, which are available for further details.
Finally, the Advanced Search contains "catalog indexes," grouped by type, which are direct access points to the various entities in the project:
Works: the compositions listed
People: composers, poets, and other related individuals
Libraries: the collaborating institutions
Watermarks: watermarks, when noted
Bibliography: cited bibliographic references
Clori is sponsored by the Centro studi sulla cantata italiana (University of Rome Tor Vergata, University of Pavia, University of Siena) in collaboration with the Società Italiana di Musicologia (SIdM), the Istituto Italiano per la Storia della Musica (IISM), the Istituto di BIbliografia Musicale (IBIMUS), and the Répertoire International des Sources Musicales (RISM).
